The YouRef consortium attended the European Sport Congress 2025, held in Lille, France, on 4–5 November. A resounding success, this milestone event brought together key figures in the world of European sports administration.

Dedicated to increasing the impact and visibility of sport projects, the second edition of the Congress spanned two days in Lille and served as a vital platform for collaboration, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas to shape the future of sport.

The event was organised by Sport Innovation Hub SL in partnership with 135 BPM, and was held under the patronage of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), the Région Hauts-de-France, the Préfet and Académie of Hauts-de-France, and the Regional Sports Conferences.

Throughout the Congress, a wide range of topics were explored, including sports policy, gender equality, and sustainability. Delegates engaged in lively discussions, sharing best practices and innovative ideas to address the challenges and opportunities facing European sport today.

The Congress also brought together partners of the YouRef Erasmus+ Sport Project, offering a valuable occasion to exchange updates and insights on the project’s ongoing activities. During the event, Sameer Janmohamed, FISU Head of Sustainability, delivered a presentation introducing the YouRef project and sharing its latest progress. The presentation emphasized YouRef’s ongoing mission to empower young referees and nurture referees to maintain fair play and integrity in sport through education, international collaboration, and digital communication.
